Second Day: 7 Hours to Truden

We knew the second day would be much harder and we got up at seven in the morning and started of in a beautifully fresh day. A massage after dinner helped Anne-France just a bit, but the ointment from the Hotel manager in Bozen and my Neoprene belt made her jump quickly.

Marc at Maria Weißenstein
Shortly after we left Deutschnofen the way began to climb quickly from 1357 Meter to Maria Weißenstein at 1521 Meter. Unfortunately right under Maria Weißenstein we took a wrong turn and made a detour of 40 Minutes, but two friendly Forest workers helped us back to our way. Finally we reached Maria Weißenstein, which is a Monastery, and a place of pilgrimage. There the sun finally reached full power and we took of our jackets and shortened the trousers.
From Maria Weißenstein the next goal was Oberradein. The way climbed a bit more out of the woods where we could enjoy the sun and the views of the alps. We had to go down (100 Meter difference in hight) to the bitterly. There the track was partly gone as you can see on the picture. During this time I practiced my poor french, but Anne-France was not really in the mood to teach, but sometime surprised by my knowledge.
Pause at Oberradein Finally we reached Oberradein at 13:00 and made a big lunch break.
Still in Oberradein. During a steep part at the Butterloch we over took two older Ladies who passed us again during the lunch break at Oberradein. We talked a bit and they said they wanted to reach Truden as well. So we said good bye and carried on. By myself I thought they would never reach Truden the same day.

Auerochse
For some change we met these folks. They were running (walking) around freely and Anne-France was very impressed by there big horns:-)
Here comes the smaller version. The further way to Truden nothing special happen except that we had to walk an ugly part on a narrow street with italian style drivers passing at 70 km/h. The last hour was not fun any more. Finally in Truden guess what, we could not find our hotel. Basically we asked when we arrived and the guy said that there is no "Hotel Zur Rose", just one called Alpenrose, but he could not recommend. So we stayed at The Lion?? After dinner at the hotel we walked the village and went to bed early.
