Partytown on the South Island

Queenstown is famous among travlers for hosting the first comercial site of Bungee Jumping and for the Nightlife. When I arrived I just missed Mr. President Clinton for one day. Well I think I did not miss anything. Queenstown was the second stop where I planned to stay a while longer. To have a good look around and to go hiking for some days (see Hiking).

Queenstown
Famous view over Queenstown from Bobs Peak. I took the cable car to get up there and hiked down. You could also fly down with a Tandem Parachute.
One of the reasons I stayed longer is that I wanted to do a bungee jump. The choosed the 102 Meter Pipeline jump. Pipeline, because the bridge you jump of was originally build for the pipeline underneath it. You jump in the scippers canyon. I was sick when I arrived, because you get there with a Land Rover and a driver who does not know what the Break is for!
Bungeejumping backwards! I was so thrilled from the first time jump that I agreed to jump a second time. The guide said: "As you are experienced now, you can jump backwards." Incredible seeing the bridge moving backwards and then swinging around. Just do it!
The last day before starting the hiking tour I rented a Mountain bike and went cicling for a day. Just cool! Six hours without meeting anybody at all!
